KUCHING: Be your own boss and seek to be a job creator instead of a job seeker.
The Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MySED) Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat echoed this statement and urged university graduates and school leavers not to rely solely on government or private companies for job opportunities.
“Pursue entrepreneurship and be a successful one, as entrepreneurs you need fighting spirit especially when faced with several challenges.
“Entrepreneurs in Sarawak can go far, learn and explore business experiences from West Kalimantan, West Malaysia and other places,” he told a press conference when officiating Sarawak Franchise Biz Programme at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
Ripin pointed out the objectives of implementing this programme was to produce more entrepreneurs in franchising and generate a dynamic economy for Sarawak.
“The programme creates awareness to the community, especially Sarawakians about franchise business model, its role, products, and services provided by Perbadanan Nasional Bhd (Pernas).
“It is also a platform for Pernas to work with ministries and state agencies to develop franchise businesses that are growing locally and to recognise the local franchise brands, especially from Sarawak,” he added.
Ripin hoped that entrepreneurs attending the event would not miss the opportunity provided by Pernas to take their brand and business to a higher level through franchising.
“The ‘FrancaisBiz Tour Series’ was first introduced in 2019 and this year is the second year that ‘FrancaisBiz’ is organised in Sarawak.
Also present at the event was Pernas head of franchise development division, Mazlan Ibrahim.
