KUCHING: Norinda Krang Su’ut from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has made Sarawak proud by securing third place in the prestigious International Gold Embroidery and Jewellery Festival in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, recently.

Norinda, an assistant publishing officer at UNIMAS, expressed her surprise at receiving the award in the ‘The Gold Embroidery Who Revived Ancient Tradition Category’.

“I never expected or even thought about receiving an award, my intention was simply to introduce Sarawak embroidery techniques and learn from other countries’ techniques.

“However, this is a blessing for Sarawakians, and Malaysia in general,” she shared on her Facebook post.

The event, organised by World Crafts Council Asia Pacific featuring participants from 52 countries, showcased their unique cultures and handcrafted gold embroidery and jewellery.
