THE Sarawak Bumiputera Recognition Application System is expected to be fully completed this year.
According to Minister in Sarawak Premier’s Department Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai, this system will allow people to apply for recognition as Sarawak Bumiputera online through the ‘sarawak.gov.my’ portal.
He added that from November 2023 to April 2024, a total of 1,646 applications for recognition as Sarawak Bumiputera were received and considered by the Sarawak Bumiputera Recognition Committee.
“Out of this total, 1,338 applications or 81.29 per cent, have been approved,” he said during his Ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Monday (May 13).
“The decisions and Sarawak Bumiputera Recognition Certificates have been submitted to the respective District Offices and Sub-District Offices in stages for dissemination to the applicants involved,” he said.
He said in line with the effective date of the Interpretation (Amendment) Ordinance , all applications for recognition as Sarawak Bumiputera can be made at any District Office or Sub-District Office throughout Sarawak starting from November 1, 2023.
