MIRI: A fire erupted on Monday (May 13), engulfing the first floor of a double-storey house in Taman Armeria, Jalan Aru 6 here.
The blaze, which reportedly started in a study room and a 20×60 kitchen, caused significant damage to the ground floor, with an estimated destruction of 40 per cent.
Fortunately, the damage on the first floor was contained to 20 per cent, mainly due to heat and smoke.
The fire, which broke out around 12.23pm, prompted an immediate response from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).
Firefighters from the Lopeng and Miri Sentral stations swiftly arrived at the scene, deploying both offensive and defensive techniques to combat the inferno.
Utilising one stream measuring 100 feet, along with one nozzle and one auxiliary duct flow, firefighters strategically tackled the blaze.
Their efforts were further supported by accessing water sources from the nearest fire hydrant.
After ensuring the safety of the surroundings and confirming the absence of any lingering threats, the firefighting team concluded their operation.
While the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, authorities are relieved that there were no casualties reported.
Investigations into the incident are underway.
