KUCHING: Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) has recovered the carcass of a Irrawaddy Dolphin caught in a tiger net in Sungai Balai Ringin and is conducting further investigation into the case.

Fisherman Fazillah Solamon from Kampung Balai Ringin discovered the lifeless dolphin trapped in his tiger net and immediately
reported the discovery to Village Chief Mohd Idris Manap for further action.

Mohd Idris then notified SFC and urged it to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

In a Facebook post, the SFC expressed gratitude to the surrounding residents and urged them to cooperate in protecting endangered wildlife species.

“The extinction of this species could potentially harm the ecosystem, making cooperation from all parties crucial in preserving marine life in the area,” it said.

The recovery of the carcass of the dolphin went viral today (May 13).
