KAPIT: A total of 658 residents of Nanga Engkuah Longhouse in Ulu Katibas, Song here, will soon benefit from infrastructure improvements costing RM2.5 million.

Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the project is carried out under the  Ministry’s Madani village adoption project.

“The infrastructure improvements include constructing bridges, which are the only connecting routes involving three longhouses, namely Rumah Assan, Rumah Radiah, and Rumah Albert Lajong.

“Besides that, there will also be the installation of solar-powered street lights,” he told a press conference after attending the Leaders with the People event and launching of the Madani village adoption project at Nanga Engkuah Longhouse yesterday (May 13).

Nanta, who is also the Kapit MP, said the implementation of the project will benefit the village residents by providing safer and more comfortable conditions, as the current bridge is old and dangerous.

“The project is expected to completed within a year. And I believed it will have a positive impact on the daily lives of the residents,” he said.
