BY MAYA GREEN

There was a life, I used to know
When I was happy, as can be
I was then, a wee bit slow
For I was just, only three

I remember our faces, all aglow
The days were filled, with you and me
In the meadows, with its splendid show
To the best of blooms, you brought me

Through a mother’s love, it will show
That tenderness, is strong as a tree
The hardest of tempest, can’t make it bow
A lesson for life, it shall always be

Now I am again, a wee bit slow
Much slower, than I was at three
A full life’s done, without need for a show
That’s fine, mama, just as you’ve told me

For this, I’ve come to know
To be always happy, as can be
Whether young or old, fast or slow
It’s only love, that will set us free

We are free, when we let love grow
And it ain’t matter, whether people see it
For as you said, mama, life’s not for show
Life’s for letting the heart go — to be free
