SIBU: Narcotics police here arrested three local men for allegedly possessing various drugs worth RM6,422 yesterday (May 15).
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the suspects were arrested around 11.45 am in a homestay at Jalan Seladah.
During the raid, police found five plastic packets containing 54.75g of Methamphetamine and 20 pills of Erimin 5 weighing about 5.50g.
The drugs, along with a Nissan Fairlady worth RM80,000, were seized for further investigation.
All the suspects tested positive for Methamphetamine/amphetamine and have prior records for drugs.
Zulkipli said the suspects are being remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
If convicted under Section 39B, the suspects may face the death penalty.
Meanwhile, if convicted under Section 15(1) (a), the suspects may be fined up to RM5,000 or jailed for a term up to two years or both, and be placed under supervision for two years under Section 38B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
