KUCHING: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak’s (UNIMAS) Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) held its inaugural ‘FEB Run 2024 ’ fostering bonds among undergraduates, postgraduates, and alumni.

The faculty organised its first running event at the university’s campus recently which was officiated by UNIMAS board of director chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie.

UNIMAS said the main purpose of the activity is to strengthen friendships among undergraduate students, postgraduates and UNIMAS’ alumni.

“In addition to that, it is for promoting a healthy lifestyle among undergraduate students as well
as exposing the uniqueness and beauty of the UNIMAS campus and its landscape to the public,” the university said in a press statement recently.

The event featured two categories, namely 9km and 4km which drew over 600 participants.

The 4km category saw 398 participants while the 9km category witnessed 205 participants consisting of UNIMAS’ academics, non-academic staff, alumni and members of the public.

As part of a social responsibility principle, the faculty will also donate part of the running event’s profit to the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Kuching branch to cover operating costs for their humanitarian efforts.
