SARATOK: The issues and challenges surrounding the acquisition of occupation permits (OP) for housing in the Taman Seroja Indah area need to be addressed judiciously.
Kalaka state assemblyman Mohamad Duri said that it involved many parties, particularly the rights of the residents.
“I hope the Sarawak government, through the relevant agencies and ministries place a high commitment to resolving this long-standing issue.
“Without OP, the residents’ rights will be neglected.
“Therefore, this issue must be handled prudently so that the residents’ rights are better protected in case anything undesirable happens,” he said.
Mohamad stated this when asked after attending a special meeting on the issue chaired by Saratok district officer Muhammad Dino Amid on Wednesday.
He further clarified that several solutions have been identified.
“However, more details need to be discussed. This really requires the commitment of all parties.
“Therefore, I am hoping for a solid cooperation between the government agencies and the affected lot owners,” he said.
Mohamad is confident that if this issue is resolved, the rights of the residents will be safeguarded.
Also present were Krian state assemblyman Friday Belik, senate member senator Pele Peter Tinggom, Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Town and Country Planning officer Suraya Jabing, Taman Seroja Indah committee chairman Lee Chai Teng, Deputy Head of the Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kalaka branch counselor Kasdi Pandi, and representatives from the Betong Division Land and Survey Department, Saratok District Council (MDS), and community leaders.
