KUCHING: Fifteen undocumented immigrants were detained and ordered to return to Indonesia after being caught for illegally entering Malaysia in Biawak, Lundu, on May 23.
According to the First Infantry Division, 10 individuals were intercepted at an illegal crossing, known locally as a ‘jalan tikus,’ approximately 118m from the Malaysia-Indonesia border at around 1.50 am.
An additional five individuals were discovered in the same area at 2.40 pm. All detained individuals were from 22 to 50 years old.
According to investigations, they had intended to enter Malaysia in search of employment. No illegal goods were found in their possession.
The immigrants were later escorted to the Malaysia-Indonesia border and instructed to leave the country. A police report has been lodged at the Lundu District police headquarters for record-keeping purposes.
