KUCHING: The Kuching Cari Cari Treasure Hunt, a thrilling new team challenge event, is set to take place on June 22.
This innovative event will blend both high and low-tech elements in a series of engaging challenges.
The event is organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC) in a strategic partnership with Grit Event Management.
Grit Event Management director Awang Saifeluddin said the event will reimagine childhood games and traditional farming practices into game-style contests that test the full range of competitors’ skills.
“Kuching Cari Cari will showcase Sarawak culture and the community spirit of the people, competing in a display of Sarawak’s legendary unity.
“This dynamic and fun-filled competition will see teams pitted against each other, testing their skills, strength, brains, and problem-solving abilities in a one-day knockout event that celebrates our Sarawak identity,” he said in a statement.
The event is expected to attract up to 100 teams of four, and this inaugural challenge is designed to attract domestic and international tourists, providing them with a deeper understanding of Kuching through its history, sport, culture and gastronomy.
“Kuching Cari Cari will award cash prizes to the top teams who successfully navigate a series of challenges, from sumpit (blowpipe shooting) and rope swings to identifying some of Sarawak’s unique species.
“The Kuching community is encouraged to prepare their teams for this exciting new series, which brings together people of various skills and interests to compete for fun and cash prizes,” he added.
