KUALA LUMPUR: Civil servants need to shoulder the trust and confidence that they are responsible for based on the values of H.E.M.A.T (Hijrah Tatakelola, Empati Rakyat, Minda Pekin, Apresiasi Inovasi and Telus Tadbiran).

Public Services Department (KPPA) director-general Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz said the HEMAT concept needs civil servants to always have the courage to migrate through sensitivity to the demands of current changes, carry out their duties neatly, be efficient in the execution of their duties and practice efficient communication.

“The value of HEMAT needs to be in line with the Malaysia Madani policy inspired by the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) and aspiration of ‘The GREAT CIVIL SERVICE’ which was introduced by the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, so that the implementation of the new value can later meet all the wishes that have been outlined,” he said in a statement issued by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM).

He said this during an exclusive talk titled HEMAT: Penuhi Aspirasi, Pencapaian Dirasai’ in the ISM Executive Talk, organised by the Social Institute of Malaysia (ISM) yesterday.

Wan Ahmad Dahlan said public officers need to adhere to three principles in implementing their tasks namely Facilitate, Accommodate and Accelerate.

Therefore, he said, the current way of working needs to be adjusted in order to meet the country’s direction and fulfil the people’s expectations and based on human relations, the values of HEMAT can be practiced by every leader and employee in the public sector.

“A leader should be a good listener, be smart in optimising resources, actively inspire new ideas, and be involved in enacting new laws and regulations.

“On the other hand, employees must implement all the changes set, try to understand any new changes, apply the new methods used, and comply with all the new regulations,” he said.

In the same event, Wan Ahmad Dahlan also launched the book ‘Menjunjung Legasi Kepimpinan Wanita KPWKM’ which lists eight female leaders who lead the ministry as secretary-general.
