SERIAN: A baton relay event involving 500 participants will be held on June 16 in Serian town in conjunction with the upcoming Malaysia Games (SUKMA).

The 4-kilometre relay will kick off at 7 am from the Sarawak government administrative centre here.

Serian Resident, Caroline Cleophas Joseph who is also the chairperson of the organising committee for the divisional-level SUKMA baton relay led the coordination meeting to ensure the event execution is successful.

The commencement ceremony for the baton relay will be officiated by Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Seri Roland Sagah who is also Tarat assemblyman.

Besides the relay event, attendees can look forward to other engaging activities including tug-of-war competition, arm wrestling, X-tive sports, and exhibitions.

The baton relay event will be further enlivened by the appearance of local sports icon, Daeloniel McDelon Bong, popularly known as Kilat Boy.

The public is warmly invited to join and contribute to make the event more vibrant and successful.
