KOTA SAMARAHAN: A police team from the Motorcycle Patrol Unit of Kota Samarahan police station intercepted a motorcycle at the roadside of Taman Sentosa on May 28 suspected of carrying illegal substances.

According to a report on its Facebook post, the rider, a man in his 40s, was acting suspiciously, prompting the police officers to conduct an inspection.

“During the search, the police discovered a plastic packet containing crystal-like substances suspected to be methamphetamine, weighing approximately 0.70 grams, hidden underneath the suspect’s clothing.

“The suspect was immediately taken to Kota Samarahan police station for further investigation. A subsequent urine test confirmed the presence of amphetamine and methamphetamine in his system.

“The suspect is now under detention and faces charges under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which could result in a fine of up to RM100,000 or a five-year prison sentence, or both, upon conviction. Additionally, he is also charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the same act.

In response to rising concerns, the Kota Samarahan District police headquarters has initiated an integrated operation to bolster safety and curb criminal activities in the district.

Authorities urge the public to collaborate with the police by reporting any suspicious or criminal activities in their neighbourhoods.
