KUCHING: Benchmarking programmes organised by the Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sarawak have garnered national attention, according to JBPM Fire Safety Division director Datuk Khirudin Drahman.
He said this achievement demonstrates the significant potential of Sarawak’s youth and their ability to positively impact the community.
He said these programmes also indirectly highlight JBPM Sarawak’s commitment and efforts to enhance fire safety awareness and preparedness among the public.
“The outcomes achieved by Sarawak’s youth can be further developed for the well-being and benefit of the community.
“Observing the statistics of saved properties, it is evident that our community has the capability and competence to address fire incidents effectively.
“If this programme continues, we can ensure a community that is resilient in facing disasters,” he said.
He said this after paying a courtesy visit to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa here today (May 30).
According to Khiruddin, the visit aimed to inform Premier about his transfer and promotion to the position of JBPM Fire Safety Division director at JBPM Headquarters in Putrajaya.
He added that the position of director of JBPM Sarawak will be temporarily held by JBPM Sarawak deputy director Tiong Ling Hii until a permanent appointment is made.
“I would like to thank the Sarawak government leadership, honorary members, and community leaders who have always supported JBPM Sarawak’s efforts to empower the community towards resilience, and I hope this support continues to ensure the safety of individuals, families, and the community,” he added.
Also present during the visit were Tiong, Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) assistant director of operations Henderi Ardimansyah, and Bomba Sarawak Fire Safety Division assistant director Mohamad Fauzi Mohamat Kifli.
