KANOWIT: One severely injured while four others suffered minor injuries in a road accident at Jalan Kanowit towards Sibu this afternoon (May 31).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported receiving a distress call at 3.13 PM about the incident and quickly deployed a team from the Kanowit station.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found a vehicle that had skidded off the road into a nearby ditch.
“Before our team’s arrival, civilians had already rescued four of the victims. The fifth victim, a male with severe injuries, was transported to the hospital in a civilian vehicle,” said a Bomba spokesperson.
Additionally, an elderly female passenger who was trapped inside the vehicle was safely extricated using a bucket stretcher.
All victims are receiving treatment at Kanowit hospital.
