SARATOK: Residents of Kampung Kupang Hilir spent the Gawai Dayak public holidays carrying out gotong-royong activities here.

It was organised by the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Kupang Hilir in collaboration with the Kupang Hilir Neighbourhood Area (KRT).

More than 80 residents spent about four hours collecting garbage, cutting grass, planting flowers, applying weedkillers and so on.

In the meantime, some members of the JKKK committee took the opportunity to see for themselves the infrastructure needs to be applied for this year.

Kupang Hilir village head Jepri Johari said, JKKK Kampung Kupang Hilir through the Bureau of Hygiene and Health cooperated with KRT Kampung Hilir Kupang to carry out the programme in conjunction with upcoming Aidiladha.

“The aim is to ensure the village remains clean and cheerful ahead of Hari Raya Aidiladha soon,” he said here, recently.

Among other things, he explained, JKKK wants to encourage the community to get involved in community activities in the village and promote mutual cooperation.

In a separate development, Jepri said June 1 also saw the launch of the Kupang Hilir Village Death Charity Fund.

The fund is an initiative of the JKKK Welfare Bureau to help residents in the event of a death in the village.

It has the support of KRT Kampung Hilir Kupang and the Al Nor Surau Management Committee.
