KUCHING: The Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, presided over the official commissioning of the new Syariah judges for the Sarawak Syariah Judiciary Department (JKSS) today.
The ceremony took place in the Main Audience Hall of Astana Negeri Sarawak.
The event witnessed the presentation of appointment letters to Sarawak Syariah Chief Judge Datu Awang Suhaili Ledi, who also serves as the Chairman of the Syariah Court of Appeal.
Following that, five judges were appointed for the Syariah Court of Appeal, along with two judges for the Syariah High Court and ten judges for the Syariah Lower Court.
The newly appointed panel judges for the Syariah Court of Appeal are Datuk Mohd Amran Mat Zain, Datuk Mohd Shukir Sabudin, Datuk Mohd Radzi Abd Latif, Datuk Mohamad Shakir Abdul Hamid, and Dr Sarip Adul.
Rosidi Masli and Najarudin Nedri were appointed judges for the Syariah High Court.
The newly commissioned judges for the Syariah Lower Court are Awang Indra Awang Mostapha, Ilham Mustapa, Wahabi Isenan, Idris Abdul Kadir, Imran Taha, Suhardi Bujang, Noor Rafidah Ali, Norsilawati Jamari, Nur Azhar Abdullah, and Mirwan Yunus.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony included the wife of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, President of the Sarawak Islamic Council (SIC), Datuk Misnu Taha, and Chief Executive Officer of the Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS), Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai.
