BINTULU: A woman died on the spot while her husband was severely injured following a fatal accident along Jalan Persisir Bintulu Samalaju, Tatau Plantation Estate this morning.
The accident happened around 7.20 am when their Perodua Bezza skidded and crashed along the road. The impact of the crash caused both victims to be thrown out of their vehicle.
Firefighters from Kidurong station who were dispatched to the scene, about 67km away, after they received a distress call, confirmed the fatal crash. They found the victims lying on the road.
The front seat passenger, identified as Nur Fariha Abu Bakar Ashe’ari, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Her body was taken to the Bintulu Hospital for post-mortem procedures.
The driver, her 25-year-old husband, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment.
The team conducted flushing works at the scene to clear the accident debris to ensure that the road is safe for other motorists.
