KUCHING: Former Bukit Begunan assemblyman Donald Lawan passed away this evening at the age of 81 due to heart failure.
Donald, the father of Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan, died at the Borneo Medical Centre (BMC) here, at 6.38 pm.
Snowdan’s press secretary Lawrence Duda confirmed the news, saying: “Further details will be announced tomorrow.”
The late Donald was a notable Dayak businessman and an influential figure in Sri Aman.
He had a distinguished political career, contesting in state and general elections four times between 1985 and 1996.
Donald is survived by seven children.
