I recently came across two opinion pieces on the online portal Newswav, written by a writer based in Malaya, that left me in disbelief. These pieces claimed that Sarawak’s success in various sectors was solely due to luck while discrediting the leadership and abilities of Sarawak’s Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari.
Such a statement is not only hard-hitting but also utterly ridiculous. Immediately, I found myself questioning the intentions behind these disparaging remarks. What could be the writer’s motive? Is there some personal gain or financial incentive behind this piece?
Furthermore, I couldn’t help but wonder about the writer’s state of mental health. Could someone truly be so ignorant as to believe that luck plays a significant role in ensuring the success of a country or state?
The truth is, that Sarawak is undeniably moving in the right direction. The state boasts political stability, economic dynamism, and a harmonious multiracial society.
This achievement can be attributed to the state’s strategic, holistic, far-sighted, visionary, and dynamic leadership, as well as its community-centric policies. This assertion is not an exaggeration; all indicators align with this reality.
It is astonishing, to say the least, that the writer could arrive at such a conclusion without considering these crucial factors.
The recognition and invitations received by our premier to deliver keynote addresses on various topics, particularly green and renewable energy and the new economy, should serve as evidence. Most recently, he was invited to speak at the Asia Future Energy Conference in Bangkok on May 17.
Abang Johari has also been invited to address an international forum in Poland on the conservation of the planet. Moreover, he is scheduled to deliver a talk on Sarawak’s hydrogen economy in Australia in August.
If only the writer cared to notice or chose not to turn a deaf ear, they would see that Sarawak is rapidly gaining recognition and attracting national and international attention across multiple sectors.
On the local front, Sarawak is looked upon as a model state for political stability. The latest endorsement came from the Regent of Johor, His Royal Highness Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who advised Johor to emulate the unity seen in the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
He highlighted that the unity within Sarawak’s political parties ensures their voices are heard, as the federal government can no longer ignore their demands due to their significant influence.
With all these achievements, it is evident that Sarawak is emerging as a focal point of national interest, captivating attention with its dynamic political landscape, robust economic growth, and exemplary multiracial unity.
This transformation is shaping Sarawak into a model of development and harmony within Malaysia, showcasing its unique strengths and potential.
As the state continues to progress, it not only enhances its prosperity but also contributes significantly to Malaysia’s broader narrative of development.
Sarawak’s story is one of hope, resilience, and the remarkable potential of a region dedicated to progress and sustainability.
The state’s proactive approach to renewable energy and carbon management sets a high standard for sustainable development. Investments in hydroelectric and solar power, combined with robust carbon management strategies, are propelling Sarawak’s transition towards a low-carbon economy.
By leading in these areas, Sarawak not only ensures its environmental sustainability but also serves as a model for other regions. The state’s commitment to green energy and carbon reduction showcases the profound impact that visionary leadership and strategic planning can have on creating a sustainable and resilient future.
It is undeniable that, apart from its dynamic and capable leadership, Sarawak’s strength lies in its multiracial unity, which has contributed significantly to its success. However, luck is certainly not one of the factors driving the state’s achievements.
