BINTULU: Swift action by the Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) emergency response team (ERT) prevented a step-up transformer from being destroyed by fire early this morning.
The incident, which did not involve any injuries, happened around 12 am at Tanjung Kidurong power station.
Firefighters from Kidurong station were dispatched to the scene, about 7km away, after they received an emergency call.
Upon arrival, the team confirmed that the 330 megawatts step-up transformer had caught fire.
The flames were extinguished by the 15 personnel of the SEB ERT using water sourced from a nearby fire hydrant.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
