BETONG: The people of Sarawak must always be vigilant against any slander from outsiders that could undermine the development agenda brought by the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Chairman of the Saribas Muslim Association (PERWARIS), Associate Professor Dr. Bolhan Budeng, said that making accusations on social media is not part of the culture of the people here.
Furthermore, he said, it is nothing more than a cheap publicity stunt.
“This is because we trust Abang Johari’s leadership style, given his excellent track record.
“Everything he does is for the progress of Sarawak and the well-being of its people.
“Many of his efforts have been proven and are not just empty talk,” he said when asked to comment on an online article written by Nehru Sathiamoorthy that disparaged Abang Johari’s leadership here yesterday.
In this regard, he explained, the people of Sarawak must be cautious of any news that could undermine the agenda of developing Sarawak and tarnish the reputation of its leaders.
“As an non-government organisation (NGO) well-versed in Sarawak and its leadership, we are very disappointed with the recent statement by an online writer.
“Such accusations are disrespectful and rude, and they can create and cause discomfort among the people.
“Therefore, the people of Sarawak should not be easily deceived and influenced by baseless accusations.
“We in Sarawak are known for being polite and forward-thinking for the greater progress of Sarawak,” he said.
Bolhan reminded the people of Sarawak to be wise in handling and evaluating the authenticity of anything that appears to be slander or unfounded accusations.
