KUCHING: Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar will officiate the ‘Sarawak Harmony Walk 2024’ which will take place on June 29 (Saturday).
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the programme, themed ‘Unity is our calling’ is targeting approximately 5,000 participants from 12 contingents, including eight religious institutions.
He said the ‘Sarawak Harmony Walk 2024’ is a 2-kilometer walk starting and ending at Padang Merdeka here.
“This programme will involve the Association of Churches in Sarawak, the Malaysian Buddhist Association Sarawak Branch, the Federation of Chinese Associations Sarawak, the Sikh Temple Association Sarawak, the Sarawak Bahá’í Spiritual Assembly, the Sarawak Islamic Information Centre, as well as media agencies.
“It is also one of the events held in conjunction with Sarawak Day 2024,” he said.
He relayed this after making a courtesy visit at Astana Negeri Sarawak here yesterday (June 14) to invite Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi to the event.
Also present during the courtesy visit were the director of the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) Datuk Jack Aman Luat, and other UNIFOR officials.
