BETONG: Two online articles written by peninsula-based writer Nehru Sathiamoorthy are inaccurate and do not reflect political maturity.
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s (UKM) Center for Development, Social and Environmental Studies, chairman, Professor Dr. Novel Lyndon said the articles were more about perceptions and assumptions.
“Nehru should not have attacked the personal character of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg,” he said.
“In my view, his writings are inaccurate and do not reflect political maturity, nor do they demonstrate intellectualism based on facts or empirical research.
“Personal attacks should not be made and are inappropriate as they constitute mere slander.
“Therefore, I agree with the police decision to investigate this writer,” he said on Saturday.
Based on his reading, Dr Lyndon said Nehru’s writings primarily attacked Abang Johari’s personal character.
“The question is why are the personal character and leadership of the Premier of Sarawak being attacked? Is the writer envious of Abang Johari’s wisdom in managing Sarawak to the extent that Sarawak is now at the forefront of development and revenue generation?
“What is the writer’s actual intention in making assumptions and interpretations without being supported by facts?”
Dr Lyndon believed this clearly shows the writer does not fully understand the situation and the lives of the people of Sarawak nor the development projects that have been initiated and implemented under the leadership of the Premier.
