KUCHING: The state has enough cows to meet the demand for sacrificial offerings for this year’s Hari Raya Aidiladha, said Datuk Dr Adrian Susin Ambud.
The Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak (DVS) director said DVS has received applications for the slaughter and inspection of cows for the celebration.
“The subsidiary company PPES Ternak has sold 800 cows throughout this year, while SALCRA has sold 175 cows,” he told New Sarawak Tribune when asked for comments today (June 16).
He said that, for the breakdown of the number of cows and slaughter applications by division in Sarawak, Betong division has applied for eight cows, Sarikei (41 cows); Limbang (10); Lawas (19); Song, Kapit (2); Sibu (10); Bintulu (21) and Kuching (5).
“Meanwhile, the Mukah division recorded 12 applications, Kota Samarahan (39 applications) in addition to Sri Aman which has been granted five permits for the purpose,” he added.
Thus, Dr Adrian said that applications for the slaughter and inspection of cows can be made by submitting a written application to any nearby Veterinary Services Office.
“This is to ensure that the slaughter process can be carried out in an orderly manner and in accordance with the established regulations,” said Dr. Adrian.
