KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap visited BEM (SIB) Stutong Baru on Sunday (June 16) to present a RM70,000 cheque from the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR).
The financial assistance would be used for the purchase of audio and music equipment, along with other upgrades to the church’s digital and sound system.
“I had the pleasure of joining their Sunday service.
“As it was Father’s Day, I took the opportunity to thank all fathers for their dedication and love for their families,” he said in a statement.
UNIFOR had been allocated RM110 million for 2024, Yap said.
“Of this amount, RM90 million will go towards assisting other religions, while RM20 million will be used to support mission schools,” he added.
Yap commended the GPS-led Sarawak government under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for fostering a strong multi-religious and multi-racial society.
“We must not take this success for granted.
“The unity and spirit of goodwill we share should be a model for others,” he said.
