KUCHING: An official ceremony to raise a giant Sarawak flag – Ibu Pertiwi at Dataran Ibu Pertiwi here will be held on July 27.
Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the ceremony will be held in conjunction with Sarawak Day which is celebrated on July 22.
“This event will be held for the first time and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is scheduled to officiate at the ceremony.
“The flag raising ceremony will also witness a parade by the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) marching band,” he said.
Abdul Rahman said they chose to hold the event on July 27 because it is a Sunday, when most people are off work, and it coincides with DBKU’s Car-Free Day.
