MIRI: The Lions Club of Batu Niah has donated 19 school bags and stationery sets to needy students of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Tukau here.

The charitable act is part of a larger initiative in which the club has ordered 60 school bags and supplies for distribution to underprivileged students in rural areas.

Its president Andy Jong Wan Joon accompanied by immediate past president Alice Yong Choon Tho handed over the school bags and supplies to the 19 recipients from grades one to six.

Jong said the beneficiaries come from the low-income families and other disadvantaged backgrounds.

“We are handing out these school bags and stationery supplies in batches for different schools, hoping that students will benefit from them,” he said during the handover ceremony recently.

In addition to this donation, SJK Tukau has initiated the Special Integrated Education Programme (PPKI) starting from June 18. Currently, the programme has enrolled three students.
