KUCHING: The handover of welding equipment valued at RM100,000 by JX Nippon Oil and Gas Exploration (Malaysia) Limited to Sarawak Skills is expected to boost the development of technical education and vocational training in Sarawak.
The Welding Equipment Handover Ceremony took place today (June 27) at the Automotive and Welding Institute of Sarawak (AWISAR) here.
Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, commended the initiative and highlighted its benefits to Sarawak.
“I am proud that JX Nippon Oil and Gas Exploration (Malaysia) Limited has taken the step to sponsor this welding equipment to Sarawak Skills,” he said through a text read by Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Aneilia Siam.
He expressed hope that similar efforts would serve as an example for other industries.
“I hope this collaborative effort sets a precedent for other industries and educational institutions to provide training equipment aligned with the latest technological advancements.
“Maintain this momentum, embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead, and together we can shape a future that advances our industries and benefits people worldwide,” he said.
Meanwhile, JX Nippon Oil executive officer and managing director Katsunori Ozawa also reiterated their commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR).
He highlighted that in line with their goal of developing sustainable oil and valuable natural gas resources, the company is committed to implementing CSR programmes to meet stakeholder expectations regarding environmental, social, and governance evaluations in the regions where they operate.
Also present were Sarawak Skills executive director Hallman Sabri and AWISAR general manager Jaidil Yakop.
