KUCHING: The Sarawak Initiatives (TSI) organisation which firmly aligns with its vision ‘For A Better Sarawak’ recently hosted a luncheon for the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), under the purview of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia yesterday (June 25).
The event was led by TSI advisor and former ambassador Datuk John Tenewi, alongside chairman Sidi Munan, who welcomed a delegation of 20 future diplomats headed by IDFR director Datuk Westmoreland Edward Palon.
IDFR is currently undertaking a 4-day visit to Sarawak from June 24 to 28 as part of their 2024 Diploma in Diplomacy (DiD) programme.
The primary aim of this initiative is to enhance participants’ skills and knowledge in diplomacy and international relations, serving as a preparatory platform for their future roles and responsibilities.
During his welcoming address, Sidi Munan outlined The Sarawak Initiatives’ mission and its role in providing a clear roadmap for Sarawakians to achieve high educational standards, promote peace and harmony, uphold integrity among leaders, celebrate Sarawak’s multicultural identity, and foster a thriving economy.
These principles are enshrined in TSI’s constitution, approved by the Registrar of Societies.
The organisation has conducted leadership training programmes for young aspiring leaders since its inception.
TSI emphasises the importance for youth to understand Sarawak’s history before and after Malaysia’s formation, and recognises Malaysia’s role in global affairs.
TSI and IDFR also expressed their mutual interest in closer collaboration to nurture more capable young leaders in the future.
