MIRI: Excitement is mounting as the city prepares to welcome the adrenaline-fuelled spectacle of the Borneo Star Drift Series x National Drift Series Borneo (Round 2), scheduled to electrify audiences at the Permyjaya Race Track from July 19 to 21.
The event promises high-speed thrills and intense competition as drifters from Malaysia and Thailand converge here.
Miri City Mayor cum Pujut assemblyman, Adam Yii Siew Sang emphasised the event’s significance in promoting Miri as a hub for exhilarating motorsport events.
“I encourage everyone to witness the skill and passion of our local drifters as they compete against the best.
“Events like these not only showcase Miri’s potential but also provide a platform for our community to come together in support of sportsmanship and thrilling competition,” he said in a press conference at Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Pujut Service Centre today (June 27).
Organisers and enthusiasts alike are gearing up for a showcase of unparalleled skill and precision on the challenging tracks, where drivers will navigate hairpin turns and straightaways, pushing the limits of their machines and showcasing the art of drifting at its finest.
“We are thrilled to bring this prestigious event to Miri,” said the event organising chairman Andy Chong.
“It’s more than just a competition; it’s a celebration of drifting excellence and a testament to the talent within our region.
“This year, we’re proud to partner with Pay&Go Sarawak to introduce an innovative online ticketing system, ensuring accessibility for all fans and enthusiasts.”
A distinguished panel of judges, including Mr. K from Malaysia, Davide Dorigo from Thailand, and Emmanuelle Amandio from Indonesia, will oversee the competition, ensuring fair and accurate scoring throughout the event.
Cash prizes await the top performers, adding an extra layer of excitement to what promises to be an action-packed weekend.
