MIRI: The wait is over for Mirians as the highly anticipated expansion building of Miri Hospital was officially handed over today (July 1).

This project, overseen by the Ministry of Public Works’ Special Project Team 2 (PPK2) and executed by Riaplus Sdn Bhd, represents a substantial investment of RM289.2 million.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who officiated at the handover ceremony, said the addition of RM58 million worth of state-of-the-art equipment, further bolstering the hospital’s capabilities.

Nanta expressed pride in the project’s timely completion, achieved ahead of schedule and without exceeding budget.

This accomplishment can be attributed in large part to the extensive use of Industrialised Building System (IBS) technology, including Autoclaved Aerated Concrete, precast beams and precast slabs.

By utilising IBS for 70 per cent of the construction process, the project exemplifies efficiency, time-saving advantages and streamlined construction methods.

The 328-bed facility features specialised wards, including First Class, Women’s, Men’s, Children’s and Obstetrics Wards.
