KUCHING: The Sarawak Initiatives (TSI) has appointed Datuk John Tenewi Nuek as chairman, replacing outgoing chairman Sidi Munan who has been appointed TSI adviser.
Datuk Dr Hatta Solhi was appointed as deputy chairman while Goh Leng Yeu retained his secretary post.
“Others who alsoretained their posts including Majlis Adat Istiadat Sarawak administrative officer (operations), Dr Ipoi Datan, and Dr Nur Aida Kipli, a Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) lecturer,” TSI said in its press release.
“The new committee, to serve from 2024-2026, saw three new members Dr Chali Ungang, Majlis Adat Istiadat Sarawak administrative officer (Bidayuh section), Associate Professor Dr Lucy Sebli, a Unimas lecturer and Syahrimin Sahadan, Consultant- Stakeholder Management (Community) for the Baleh Hydroelectric Project at Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB).”
TSI is a state-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) which aims to promote and help Sarawakians attain a high standard of education; create a peaceful and harmonious living environment; cultivate good values and integrity; create a unique Sarawak identity based on Sarawak’s cultural diversities; and create a healthy economy.
“We felt that the role of education in shaping future leaders has never been more crucial,” said TSI.
“Education not only equips individuals with knowledge but also cultivates essential leadership qualities that drive innovation and progress across communities.
“Quality education not only enhances individual capabilities but also addresses global challenges such as economic disparities and social inequalities. Leaders who are well-educated are better equipped to navigate complex issues and drive sustainable change.”
TSI is also committed topromoteeducational initiatives that empower aspiring and future leaders from diverse backgrounds.
Through partnerships with schools, universities, and community organisations, TSI aimsto foster a culture of lifelong learning and leadership excellence.
