MIRI: An operation of a house raid in Piasau saw 24 suspects were detained while another 12 persons along with local employers in Jalan Beluru – Lapok were held for invalid documents.

According to reports by the Immigration Enforcement Unit, the operation along Jalan Beluru – Lapok on Wednesday (July 3) targeted four locations which were three palm oil bunch weighing centres and a supermarket.

Acting on public complaints and intelligence, 12 Indonesian nationals were detained while working, along with their Malaysian employer.

In a separate raid at a house in Piasau, out of 26 individuals that have been checked, 24 immigrants were detained while they were sleeping. Violations included lacking valid travel documents, overstaying, and not having proper permits to reside in Malaysia.

All detainees were investigated under Sections 6(1)(c) and 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
