SIBU: Businesswomen throughout the state are invited to participate in the 2nd East Asia Women Entrepreneurs Conference to be held in Kuala Lumpur from Oct 16 to 20.

The conference theme, ‘The Emerging Trends in Asean Development’ will be hosted by Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Women Entrepreneurs Committee.

According to Jamie Tiew Yen Houng, MCCC of Sarawak Women Entrepreneurs Committee chairperson, over 800 women entrepreneurs from East and Southeast Asia are expected to convene at the conference.

Speaking at the press conference here yesterday (July 5), she highlighted that the main purpose of the conference is to create more opportunities for women entrepreneurs in the East Asia region, promote economic prosperity throughout the region, and collectively write a new chapter of international cooperation.

She stated the inaugural East Asia Women Entrepreneurs conference was hosted by the Hainan Women Entrepreneurs Association at Haikou, Hainan and the theme was ‘Towards the Future-Empowering women business leaders in East Asia.

“That conference brought together over 300 women entrepreneurs, from countries including China, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, as well as Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan,” Tiew, who is also MCCC’s Women Entrepreneurs Committee deputy chairperson said.
