MIRI: Police have opened investigations after two houses here were splashed with red paint.

District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said two police reports were lodged after the incidents took place at houses located in the Interhill Park and Curtin Water areas.

Preliminary investigations suggest that both cases are connected as the victims have familial ties.

But the motive behind the vandalism remains unclear.

Alexson in a statement on Friday, urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information on social media, as this could lead to unnecessary anxiety and unrest within the community.

He also advised residents to enhance their home security systems, such as by installing CCTV cameras or alarm systems.

Anyone with information regarding the incidents is encouraged to come forward and contact the nearest police station or call 085-433730.
