MIRI: A local woman became the victim of a snatch theft in Miri yesterday (Jul 6), prompting a manhunt by the local police.

Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed receiving a police report regarding the incident.

According to Alexson, the theft took place around 4pm, in front of the entrance to Servay Hypermarket Pelita.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspect, a man riding a white or silver motorcycle, snatched the victim’s handbag, which contained her personal belongings.

The police are actively seeking witnesses and collecting evidence to aid their investigation.

“The investigation paper has been opened and is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code,” Alexson stated.

Alexson also appealed to anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Individuals can contact the nearest police station or call 085-433730 to provide relevant details.

“The Police greatly appreciates the community’s concern for the safety and environment in the Miri District,” he added.
