SIBU: The Foochow Park here will have closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) installed next year for its safety.

This initiative was proposed by the Sibu Foochow Association to Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee.

Tiang, who is also the Pelawan assemblyman, received the proposal positively.

“I promise to instal the CCTV in 2025, and the association will be responsible for maintaining the system,” he said in his speech during a minor rural project (MRP) grant handover at the association premises yesterday (July 8).

Tiang had allocated RM10,000 to the association this year and assured he would allocate RM50,000 for the association next year.

Meanwhile, on the lorry and other transport parking issues, Tiang said he had consulted the director of Land and Survey to acquire 100 acres of land for the planning and settlement of the heavy vehicles.

“As the deputy minister, I aim to champion the development of Sibu, regardless of political party affiliations or race.
