BINTULU: Upgrading works on the Muhibah Stadium and the Bintulu Outdoor Stadium are on track for completion before this August for the upcoming 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA).

Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) CEO and Sarawak Sports Council director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan said the works on both stadiums are progressing according to schedule.

He said the works are important to ensure the facilities are in top conditions to welcome athletes from around the country.

“We want both these stadiums, which are under the SSC, to be revamped to present the best image to participating athletes from outside Sarawak,” he said after a working visit to several sports facilities here recently.

During the visit, he inspected the conditions of the SUKMA venues which included the Muhibah Stadium for sepak takraw, the Bintulu Outdoor Stadium for football, and the Naem Paragon Street Mall for Muay Thai.

Also present were Bintulu State Sports Council officer Jolene Leong, and Bintulu Outdoor Stadium supervisor Kederi Yusof.
