SARIKEI: Several road and drainage upgrading projects will be implemented in Meradong constituency to provide better facilities for its residents.

This is after Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii has submitted a request to upgrade rural facilities in the constituency through the Sarawak State Development Office, following his recent visit to Meradong to address the people’s concerns.

“Hock Hoe Road 1 and Hock Hoe Road 3 in Sungai Labas will be upgraded by the appointed contractor.

“The upgrading works will commence shortly to ensure completion as soon as possible,” he said in a statement.

Huang, who is also the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Deputy Minister, added that the drainage system at Rumah Moses Bunyau in Sungai Petai will also be upgraded.

“This to ensure smoother water flow and to prevent flooding,” he said.

Recently, Sarikei Parliamentary Service Centre officer Gung Chiu Kion, who represented Huang, witnessed the handover ceremony for the People-Friendly Project (PMR) sites in Sungai Labas and Sungai Petai.
