KUCHING: Local radio station Cats FM is currently experiencing broadcast interference following a suspected electrical short circuit in the main switchboard room last night (July 16).
In a notice issued at 5.13 am today, the station informed the public that all of their frequencies are affected.
“Repair works are underway. Any inconvenience is greatly regretted,” it said.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a distress call at 9.16 pm on the presence of smoke in the radio station building at Jalan Demak Laut.
Firefighters from Petra Jaya station were dispatched to the scene and the smoke was contained within the main switchboard room.
No extinguishing operation was necessary, and no injuries were reported as several staff members were evacuated to safety.
The short circuit in the main switchboard room is believed to have caused the smoke.
