MIRI: A wooden hut used for resting by workers of an oil palm plantation in Kampung Madinah, Jalan Jembatan Suai was completely destroyed by fire this morning.
The fire and rescue department (Bomba) received an emergency call at 7:16 am, prompting a swift response from firefighters from the Batu Niah station.
Led by operations commander Jeferry Majin, the team rushed to the site. Upon arrival, they found a seven-by-seven square foot wooden structure engulfed in flames.
The hut, which served as a shelter for the plantation workers, was already fully burned by the time the firefighters reached the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
The firefighters conducted an overhaul operation, utilising a 100-foot hose, a nozzle, and a water tank pump to extinguish any remaining embers and ensure the fire had stopped.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
