KUCHING: Sarawak’s hotels are expected and ready to accommodate around 10,000 visitors for the upcoming Malaysia Games (Sukma) XXI Sarawak 2024 next month.

Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew expressed confidence in this capacity as Sarawak had last month successfully hosted 26,000 visitors during the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF).

“Regarding hotels, since they cover the whole of Sarawak, last month we organised the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) for three days and welcomed 26,000 visitors.

“Therefore, I believe we are ready for Sukma.”

Ting said this during an interview on the Juh Randau Programme produced by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) at the Baitulmakmur Building, Petra Jaya here.

He further highlighted that Sukma would create economic opportunities not only in Kuching but throughout Sarawak.

“This time, looking at the overall number of events, some will be held outside Kuching, such as in Miri, where six will take place.
