KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here fined a labourer RM5,000 in default 14 months’ jail for stealing and selling his mother’s gold chain for RM9,600.

Khairul Anwar Zulkifli, 28, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan to the charge under Section 414 of the Penal Code.

He committed the offence at a goldsmith in Kota Sentosa around 3:15 pm on July 5.

According to the case facts, on July 12, the complainant’s cousin informed him that Khairul, his brother, was selling their mother’s jewellery.
