MIRI: The Youth Ministry of the Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) Sarawak will host the Youth Festival (FoY) featuring a performance by Gegar Vaganza All Star winner, Jaclyn Victor, at the end of this month at Dataran Kipas.
This FoY is being held for the first time in conjunction with International Youth Day and will start on July 26 – 28, with its theme ‘Go Beyond’ aiming to empower the youth.
Telang Usan assemblyman, Datuk Dennis Ngau, who is also the festival advisor, stated that the main objective of organising FoY is to enable BEM Sarawak to empower the youth not only from a religious aspect but also encompassing three other aspects: education, career, and health.
“Youth problems are a global issue affecting all races and religions in society, not only in this state but around the world.
“Therefore, programs like FoY are organised to attract youth to engage in activities that benefit themselves.
“Although the organisers are from a church association, FoY is a festival for all youth as it serves as a bridge of unity and harmony among youth of different backgrounds, races, and beliefs,” he said during the FoY press conference at BEM Pelita Church here yesterday.
The festival, co-organised by the Rhema Christian Youth Association (PBKR), a registered association under the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED), will also feature health talks, a job expo, and a free HPV vaccination program.
Additionally, the festival will be enlivened by a food fair to attract visitors.
