Man fined RM2,000 for possessing stolen Apple AirPods Pro

KUCHING: A man was fined RM2,000, in default four months in prison, by the Magistrates’ Court for possessing stolen property.

Fleezzender Kelvin Chungin, 27, from Kampung Ensika, pleaded guilty to two charges before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.

The first charge, under Section 411 of the Penal Code, involved possessing the stolen Apple AirPods Pro wireless Bluetooth in-ear headphones belonging to a 36-year-old woman.

The second charge, under Regulation 25 (1) (n) of the National Registration Regulations 1990, was for failing to present his identification card when apprehended.

The offence occurred at a public parking lot in Kuching Sentral around 9.30pm on July 13.

Magistrate Zubaidah imposed a RM1,500 fine or three months in prison for the first charge and a RM500 fine or one month for the second charge.

According to case facts, on July 11 at around 11pm, the complainant found her handbag, placed between the driver and passenger seats, missing while refuelling at a petrol station.

Among the stolen items were documents and AirPods Pro, resulting in a RM10,000 loss.

The police report led to the arrest of the accused on July 13 at the Kuching Sentral’s public parking lot. The investigation revealed that the accused possessed the stolen items as reported.

During the arrest, the accused also failed to present his identification card.

ASP Arman Ibrahim prosecuted the case while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
