KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak government has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) for a strategic partnership.
The MoU signed at the Affin Tower’s auditorium here on Friday (July 19), will see both parties exploring potential cooperation, collaboration and sharing of information and provision of support to each other.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the initiative marks the state’s efforts to cooperate on its mutual intent with LTAT for potential collaboration which are of common interest and benefits to both parties.
“This first collaboration with LTAT is just the beginning of bigger possibilities and opportunities.
“Indeed, the signing of this MoU will establish a platform for Sarawak to further having a collaboration with LTAT,” he said during the MoU signing ceremony.
During the event, Abang Johari witnessed the signing of documents between Sarawak Financial Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar who represented the state government, while LTAT was represented by its chief executive officer Mohammad Ashraf Md Radzi.
The MoU also involves the acquisition of additional shares in Affin Bank by the Sarawak government from LTAT, with both parties set to proceed with the sale and purchase agreement after obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.
Among those present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Minister of Defence Adly Zahari, Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, and Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
