MIRI: A fire on Friday night left five residents, including a child homeless after their two-storey house in Luak was partially destroyed.

The incident occurred at Lot 1185, Lorong 48/1, Jalan Kampung Luak, Miri.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an emergency call at 9:06 pm and promptly dispatched units from Bomba Miri and Lopeng to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found the house, which was under repair, engulfed in flames, with approximately 30 percent of the structure affected.

The estimated fire area was 40 x 30 square feet.

Firefighters employed a strategic extinguishing technique using two auxiliary duct streams, one 200-foot stream with a dividing breeching, and two water nozzles from the machinery.

Their efforts successfully brought the blaze under control.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
